As a writer, I have endured many occupations, most of which had very little to do with writing. I entered into each catastrophic appointment with the intention of funding the pursuit of my career and instead, found myself drained of any inspiration, drooling and incapable of speech, let alone coherent, entertaining prose.

Following the advice of many frustrated, but kindly, colleagues, friends and family I have resolved to alter the trajectory of my rather inert career, by dropping the pretence that I will ever be satisfied to do anything other than write for a living.

Those of you with similar aspirations may wish to chortle at the meagre attempts, amongst other stories, chronicled in my blog.
